Recently, I had a chance to visit Niagara Falls for the first time since I was a small child. Granted it was only for a few hours on the way up to Toronto, but it was still a great time. You might wonder what kinds of things one can do in Niagara Falls. Although it’s extremely touristy and expensive, it’s definitely worth a visit. Here are a few tips for visiting Niagara Falls.
1) Stand in Awe of the Falls
Obviously, the reason you go to Niagara Falls is to see the actual Falls. One can stand in awe of the grandiose of the Falls, literally for hours, just gazing. It’s quite mesmerizing seeing 6 million cubic feet of water pour over the Falls every minute!
2) Catch A Rainbow Over The Falls
With the frequent combination of sun and mist over the Falls, rainbows are quite common. If you stand there long enough, you’re sure to catch a pretty spectacular rainbow view.
3) Canadian vs. American Side
You have 2 choices when visiting Niagara Falls, either from the American side or from the Canadian side. Personally, I prefer the Canadian side because you get a much better view. The American side allows you to go behind the Falls if that’s something you’re into, but I’d rather get some good photographs.
4) Check Out the Tightrope Walker
This really needs no introduction. Seeing a tightrope walker that high up in the air was pretty cool.
5) Avoid Eating in Niagara Falls
If you happen to like overpriced, mediocre food, then Niagara Falls is the place for you. Otherwise, do yourself a favor and head out of Niagara towards Toronto for some better eats. Toronto has some fantastic restaurants, but that’s for another day and another blog post.
What are some of your tips for visiting Niagara Falls? What were some of your favorite things to do there?
